A bit about me and our City

I am a Yellowknifer and proud of it, arriving here from the south in June of 1961.  Not many people know more about our wonderful City than I.  I have watched our city grow by leaps & bounds.  It’s a great place to live and to raise a family in spite of our cold winters (and they’re not that bad anymore).

In 1967 I began work for City Hall when Yellowknife was a very small town. The Yellowknife population of 3,000 doubled in 1966 when the Government of the Northwest Territories moved the entire government staff and the legislative assembly from Ottawa to Yellowknife. It became the first City in the NWT on January 1, 1970 .

My City Hall work included Asst. Secretary-Treasurer and then Manager of the City’s Planning and Lands Department.  In 1982 I started my career in Real Estate.  I served on City Council for 3 years and was a long term member of the Yellowknife Board of Revision for Assessment.  I also served as President of the Yellowknife Real Estate Board during its early years.
